One of the city’s worst illegal fly tippers has been caught with covert surveillance techniques.

News just in has revealed that – Dib Hanna Abdalla Hanna has been fined $133,000 for tipping waste at locations across the city of Sydney, so comprehensive was the footage and such was the quality that it has been made available for public viewing.

Dib Hanna Abdalla Hanna is shown dumping waste in a variety of public locations including parkland, covert surveillance cameras were used to film the incidents and in some cases the convicted fly tipper was filmed from his home to the location of the crime.

Analysis shows many of the loads were contaminated with asbestos waste, film footage was taken using covert cameras, in some cases waste was dumped straight onto the road which put contaminated and dangerous waste directly into peoples lives.

It costs huge amounts of money to clean up after this type of waste dumping but profits for the illegal tippers are high since they can avoid paying for the disposal of the waste which is expensive but still charge the company that hired them the full cost. the incentive to fly tip will only grow as environmental laws make the safe disposal of waste more expensive.

Covert surveillance can be depolyed quickly using the right cameras and of course it is also mobile which was perfect for capturing evidence for this type of crime, more usually covert cameras are used for infidelity or insurance fraud but increasingly this type of surveillance is deployed for this type of anti social crime.

Covert Surveillance with NiteDevil Cameras

The latest installation of covert surveillance cameras tested the latest NiteDevil night time surveillance cameras.

location was the UK and the primary goal was to get 24/7 surveillance on a particular target, the cameras were installed as part of a “building maintenance” cover and were then “Cammed Up” so they were completely covert.

Even the neighbours were not aware of the deployment, the target merchandise was worth £65k and the threat was between the hours of darkness. Images were sent to a 30 day recorder that saved the data to hard drive with a 9 inch digital monitor. Laptop functionality was enabled for easy edit and the setup was on permanent record.

The night time surveillance was astonishingly good, with no natural or artificial lighting, not even street lighting, crystal clear digital imagery was recoreded. Twenty four days into the surveillance we had a call that the merchandise had been tampered with, it took just 15 minutes to get the footage onto a USB memory stick and then onto a Laptop.

The incident was revealed and recorded at 3.30 am in the rain, images were sharp and we zoomed in the footage so that passport style digital portraits revealed the perpetrators faces clearly, the footage had time and date stamps and was then delivered to the local police force. The culprits were identified within 12 hours and apprehended pending court dates.

In all the operation from start to finish took a month.

The covert surveillance operation was a total success, the hardware performed brilliantly and we were impressed by the high quality footage from the equipment.

Whilst this was at the SME end of our operations the ease of deployment and the quality of the results shows that this is a viable option and solution for covert surveillance on a “fire and forget” remote basis.
